Important Race Details

 

Thank you all for choosing to be a part of the Half Full Triathlon, the 70 mile fight to help support the cancer fight.  Below are some of the important details that will help guide you through a successful and fun event.  Please read the below details to help you better understand the event.  This event will be one like you have never seen before.  On behalf of those affected by cancer and their loved ones, THANK YOU!

LOCATION:  Centennial Park, Ellicott City, Maryland

USAT REGISTRATION:  Athletes must provide proof of current USAT membership or purchase a one-day permit ($10.00) at packet pickup or they will not be allowed to race.  If you wish to become a USAT member, register on-line at USAT or call 1-719-597-9090.

MINIMUM AGE TO COMPETE:  16 years of age on race day

DATE/TIME:  The Inaugural Half Full Triathlon will take place on Sunday, October 3, 2010 at approximately 7:00am at Centennial Park, Ellicott City, Maryland. 

TEMPERATURE:  The normal high for October is 67 degrees.  The normal low is 44 degrees.  The normal average is 56 degrees.  Average water temperature will be calculated and posted.  USAT wetsuit/water temperature rules will be in place on race day.

RAIN DATE:  There will be NO rain date.  The race will go on rain or shine.  In case of inclement weather, race management reserves the right to alter/modify the race course for safety considerations.  In the case of a "Natural Disaster", there will be no refunds of race entry fees. 

START FORMAT:  Half Full Triathlon will utilize a "wave" start format.  The wave times will be announced online a few weeks prior to the event date.

TIME LIMITS:

  • Swim cutoff is at 50 min. from your wave start time, and will be enforced
  • Bike cutoff is 5hrs/15 from your race wave start time
  • To Complete 8hrs and will be enforced for safety reasons

MANDATORY PRE-RACE BIKE INSPECTION:  You MUST bring your CPSC certified race helmet and your race day bike. You may also have your bike inspected at the race site prior to racking your bike in transition on Saturday. Bike racking begins at noon on October 2nd in the Centennial Lake transition area, after you complete the registration process at the hotel.   All are encouraged to visit one of the listed shops below prior to race weekend as lines will be very long on October 2nd.  Bike inspection locations are as follows from September 24, 2010 - October 1, 2010 during normal business hours:

MANDATORY PRE-RACE BIKE RACKING:  ALL bikes must be racked on Saturday October 2, 2010 at Centennial Park between 12 noon and 7pm.  For security purposes, once racked, bikes may not be removed for any reason.  Security will be provided overnight.

REFUNDS:  A partial refund of your race entry fee will be made less a $75 administrative charge if requested, in writing or via email, on or before August 1, 2010 . After this date absolutely no refunds for any reason. There are No Race Transfers or substitutions.

Selling of your race entry slot is strictly prohibited by us and USAT rules. If you do sell your race slot, you will be disqualified from the race and you, as well as, the entrant who purchased your slot will be unable to race in another UCF/USAT event for a minimum of 2 years. Selling of race entries jeopardizes our race insurance coverage, and can change the placement status of other athletes that have trained hard to complete the race.

Entry fees are not transferable to another person and note that a valid ID will be required at race packet pick-up.
